Shurgard Romford

Due to our strong performance delivering their Woolwich store, Shurgard UK engaged with us to manage the construction of their £6.3 million Romford Self Storage facility. The proposed works were to provide Shurgard UK with a purpose built self-storage facility [circa 10,150m²] at 3 Rush Green Road, Romford, on a site formally used as a builders merchants.
The existing site contained a number of low level buildings varying in construction, requiring demolition and removal including the breaking up of the existing slab, to be carried out by a specialist demolition contractor.

The proposed works comprised the construction of a ground + 4 storey steel framed building with upper floor mansards, a two-storey under croft allowing access with associated services, landscaping and car parking.

The shop and front of house facilities addressed Rush Green Road offering a commercial elevation to the street. In addition to the proposed facility, the agreed scope of works included the betterment of the existing access to Grenfell Park, along the River Rom, and the provision of a new feature public entrance to the park.

Through the use of London stock brick slips and render, the new storage facility has been delivered in keeping with the materiality of the surrounding residential buildings and has been achieved with minimal changes to the existing access and transport in and around the site. The scope of works for this project included:
